Prefabricated Picnic Shelter & Landscape Improvements<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

\"\"KDF Construction & Development was contracted by the City of Abbotsford to design, engineer, prefabricate and erect a new 24\u2019 x 20\u2019 steel picnic shelter for the Swensson Park community. The project included clearing and grubbing invasive species and expired shrubs from the project footprint, installation of 152 Lin.m. of custom tree protection fencing, focused on reducing wood consumption while providing adequate environmental protection during demo and construction. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Demo of existing concrete pads and asphalt path, relocation of existing climbing structure for reuse at a new location, re-grading of new lawn areas and alignment and grading of new asphalt path. Excavation and installation of LCB drainage structure and connection to city stormwater system. Form and pour 4 concrete pads for picnic shelter and site furnishings, design and installation of a custom 4-zone irrigation system, 180 m2 of new black asphalt path, supply and installation of 5 picnic tables, 1 park bench, 2 bike racks, and reinstallation of existing signage and waste bin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\" Landscape restoration consisted of supply and placement of 378 Yrd3 of growing medium, supply and installation of 1329 shrubs and ground covers and (5) 6cm caliper shade trees, installation of 2\u201d of composted bark mulch on all planting beds and tree pits, hydraulic seeding of lawn areas, and 1 year of maintenance. The black steel picnic shelter with blue roof was designed, engineered and fabricated in Chilliwack BC by Outlaw Industries based on the City of Abbotsford specifications. The structure was delivered to site and bolted together with the assistance of a Hiab crane truck. Custom downspouts were added to capture rain run off from the front and rear slopes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
